Guinea Pig Information

The guinea pig (Cavia porcellus) is a species of rodent belonging to the family Caviidae and the genus Cavia. It originates from South America and it is also called Cavy after its scientific name. Incas used to breed them for food and sacrifice. Today guinea pigs are very popular pets. Children just love them. They are inexpensive to keep, but require frequent cage cleaning and companionship. Guinea pigs do not like living in dirty conditions.
